Designing Your Face
Courage has a lot to do with style and wearing make-up. Promise yourself now to make the commitment to experiment with color! Make-up is for every woman (young and mature). It’s knowing just how much or how little to wear that is important. When you apply your make-up properly it will enhance the best of what you have. The greatest changes are to those of us who have the plainest faces. It is here we can create extraordinary improvements. Everyone admires a beautiful woman, but you must realize that their appearance is the result of a critical and objective analysis of their assets and how to enhance them. They have courage!! Follow my make-up tips and learn to develop your own sense of style and courage.
Foundation
To create the foundations for your self- portrait, start with your specific skincare regime. Select the proper shade of concealer according to your own skin tones and areas you would like to cover. Concealer should be one shade lighter than your skin tone. For dark undereye circles apply a dab of yellow followed by green, blend gently together. You may add a neutral over this if necessary. Basic rule with concealer is to blend carefully. Next apply your foundation. The color chosen should be as close to your own natural skin tone. Remember the foundation is to protect you skin from the elements and to even out your skin tones, not to alter your coloring. Follow this process with a light dusting of translucent powder, applied with a large brush. This will set the foundation and keep your skin looking fresh and new throughout the day and evening.
Blush
If you are to achieve a healthy looking glow be sure to pick a color that is suited to your needs. Consider not only your skin tone, hair color and the lighting that will surround you. The color should contrast with your lipstick shade. It does not have to match. Daytime and evening shades will differ dramatically. Use the lighter shades for a natural daytime look and for the evening use the darker shades remembering to always blend well.
For best results use a powder blush and apply it with a complexion brush. It is designed to help you control your color while conserving the product. Apply the blush about an inch and a half from the side of your nose. Sweep it up along the cheekbone to the hairline. For evening, think of the shape of a lamb chop and apply your color from your cheekbone up and around your temple. By using this method you will notice you have also helped to enhance your eyes.
Eyes
Your eyes are noticed first and since they project your personality, do not fall into the trap of being recognized by your makeup. For too long the vast majority of women have used eye color that subdues rather than enhances and compliments their beautiful eyes. Start with an Eye Fix Crème, spread it gently over the entire eye area, set with a Shadow Base Powder. Now, add color with a medium shade on the eyelid, a light shade or hi-lite under the brow and a darker contour color in the crease or on the brow bone. The contour color will help your eyes to stand out. The important thing to remember is to blend, blend, blend!! Apply your shadows with sable brushes and see how easy it becomes. The brushes will do the work for you. Determine which brushes you feel most comfortable with much like an artist does with a painting. Next line the upper lid with a smooth liner or liquidliner and the lower lash line with a liner close to the lash line. The color should contrast with the shadow colors you have selected. Follow these steps, especially using the Eye Fix and Shadow Base first and your shadow will stay on all day.
Lashes
We must accept the fact that we cannot grow or thicken our eyelashes. However, by working with what you have you can improve them with the use of Mascara and Lash Primer. First apply several coats of Lash Primer. Immediately follow with several coats of mascara in black, brown or navy. Then using a comb/brush separate lashes so they appear full and even. The Lash Primer will nourish and protect the lashes from drying out and will encourage them to be healthy.
